How to use Apex Player
Five minutes and you know everything. Each section stands on its own.
1. First start
Allow access to your media
On a phone, Android asks to allow photos & videos and audio so the app can find them. Apex Player only reads the files to list them. Without it, the Library stays empty.
Open Library
The first scan runs by itself. Videos and Music have their own tabs. Pull the refresh button in the corner any time you add new files.
Tap something to play
Videos open full screen. Music opens the music player with a queue.
2. Watching videos
| Do this | To get this |
|---|---|
| Tap the picture | Show or hide the controls (they hide by themselves after three seconds) |
| Double-tap the right or left side | Skip forward or back 10 seconds |
| Swipe sideways | Seek; release to jump |
| Swipe up or down on the right | Volume |
| Swipe up or down on the left (phones) | Screen brightness |
| Pinch with two fingers | Zoom in; the zoom button resets it |
| Space, ← →, ↑ ↓ (Windows) | Play/pause, seek 10 s, volume |
- Speed: tap the speed button (it shows the current speed) and pick 0.25× to 8×.
- Subtitles: a file like movie.srt next to movie.mp4 loads automatically. Or tap the subtitle button and choose Load subtitle file.
- A–B repeat: tap A-B once to mark the start, again to mark the end and loop. A third tap clears it.
- Bookmarks: tap the bookmark-plus button to mark the moment; the bookmarks button lists them.
- Lock: the lock button hides the controls and ignores touches. Tap the unlock button on the left edge to return.
- Back arrow: the video shrinks into a mini player above the menu and keeps playing. Tap it to expand, or the cross to stop.
3. Listening to music
- Open Library › Music and tap a song. The rest of the list becomes your queue.
- Shuffle, previous, play/pause, next and repeat sit under the progress bar. Repeat cycles: off, all, one.
- The equalizer button opens five bands. Free has the presets (Flat, Bass boost, Treble, Vocal); Pro unlocks each slider.
- The queue button shows what's next and lets you jump.
4. Browser and downloads
Open a page
Go to Browser, type an address or a search, and press Go. Use + for more tabs and the star to bookmark.
Watch for the banner
When the page contains a video file, a bar appears at the bottom: Play in Apex to stream it, or Download to keep it. If several videos are found, the list button shows them all.
Follow the progress
The Downloads page shows each file with speed and time left. Pause, resume or cancel from there. Finished files are added to your Library and open with a tap.
- Free runs two downloads at a time; extra ones wait their turn. Pro has no limit.
- Choose where files go in Settings › Download folder.
- Streaming playlists (HLS, .m3u8) can be played but not downloaded as a single file. Protected (DRM) services aren't supported.
- Only download what you have the right to save.
5. Library, playlists and the private folder
- Tap the ⋮ menu on any item to favorite it, add it to a playlist or move it to the private folder.
- Playlists live in Library › Playlists. Open one to rename, reorder by dragging, or remove items.
- Continue watching on Home shows videos you stopped part-way.
- Private folder (lock icon in Library): the first time you create a PIN. On phones with a fingerprint or face unlock you can use that instead. Private items vanish from the Library and Home until you take them out. This hides items; it doesn't encrypt files.
6. Themes, Pro and backup
- Settings › Theme switches Light, Dark or System.
- Theme Store: in the Browser menu choose Theme Store. Everyone can preview; Pro members download and apply packs.
- Getting Pro: open Pro, sign in with your email code, pick a plan, pay by JazzCash, Easypaisa or UBL and upload the receipt screenshot. Pro switches on by itself once it is confirmed. See the Go Pro page.
- Backup: Settings › Back up writes one file with your playlists, favorites, history, bookmarks and settings. Restore from backup brings them back, even on another device. Your PIN is never included.
Something not working?
- Library is empty: allow access to photos/videos and audio in your phone's app settings, then tap the refresh button.
- No sound or picture for one file: the file may be damaged or use a rare format; try another file to check.
- Windows warns when installing: that's normal for a new app; see the install steps.
- Need help paying? In the app open Settings › Help & support › Ask the assistant. It explains each step, and Talk to a person opens a live chat with us.
